What Does It Mean

I see a lot of bumper stickers and hear a lot of people saying "support our troops", but what does this really mean. The troops are being deployed for longer tours of duty than ever before, and they are being sent to more tours of duty than ever before. Enlisted personnel that thought they had fulfilled their obligations for deployment are being told they will be sent off to battle once again. In short we are asking and demanding more from our soldiers than ever before

Wake Up Sheeple

Don't Believe The Hype

A lot of these soldiers signed up as a result of the post 9/11 propaganda. The world was in shock, and most Americans were devastated. The government did not miss a beat in capitalizing on that fear. We were told that Al Qaida had attacked us from its safe refuge in Afghanistan and that Iraq was stock piling weapons of mass destruction.

The media jumped on this and we were barraged with repetitive messages of how Osama Bin Laden and his army hiding in the caves of Afghanistan had perpetrated the greatest act of terror known to mankind. Then the fear mongers led us to believe that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction even though U.N. inspectors had found no such evidence. The White House then increased the fear factor by saying that Iraq had the capacity to produce nuclear weapons and that they had purchased cooling rods for a nuclear reactor. The message beat into our heads was "we don't want the warning to come in the form of a mushroom cloud"

Propaganda

All of these claims were totally unsubstantiated and were simply vehicles of furthering an objective that existed prior to 9/11. We were lied to in order to gain our support for military action to secure natural resources. I doubt many Americans would have been waving the flag and buying nationalistic bumper stickers if we were told the truth, that we were going to war to gain access to oil and natural gas reserves.

The real loser here is the patriotic American who signed up to protect their country from a perceived threat. How despicable it is to send our young men and women into harms way under false pretenses, and this was done artfully.

Do you remember the Anthrax scare. Funny how as soon as the anthrax was found to be military grade and traced to one production facility here in the U.S., we never heard another word about it. Not to mention the fact that officials were given masks to prevent exposure before the fact. Where was the media during all of this? They were silent. There was no further investigation into the issue at all.

Forward To The Present

So where are we today. We are still engaged in combat missions in both Afghanistan and Iraq, and have also added Libya to the mix. Since the Weapons of mass destruction did not pan out and The most wanted man in the world Osama Bin Laden is dead ...what is the reasoning now. We were briefly told we needed to "stay the course" in Iraq. What does this mean? If we are at war under false pretenses and we must continue that course then it appears that we must stay in Iraq for no reason what so ever...except for the fact that we are there already. We were told that the country would fall into anarchy if we withdrew our troops. Well it is in a complete state of anarchy now...and has been ever since our arrival

The Real Reason

What is hard to swallow but documented by facts is that we wanted Iraq to be unstable. We wanted anarchy. This gives us a reason to stay there, although ironically our presence is what is creating the anarchy. The instability gave us the pretense to build the largest military base in the world, which we will never abandon. We never planned on leaving Iraq the goal was to figure our how to sell a permanent presence to the world. The whole operation was set up to create instability so that we could appear to be creating order.

The reality is that all of this was a premeditated and finely orchestrated pilfering of the Iraqi oil supply. Iraq's oil fields have now been privatized for the first time since the 1970's with western corporations Shell and BP receiving the largest contracts. Under the current arrangement Iraq will only see 25% of the profit from its own oil with the lions share going to make rich western corporations even richer. So in the end our soldiers and 500,000 Iraqi's have died for corporate profit. You would think that since we have tapped into such a wealth of oil that gas prices would drop, but NO. While our soldiers are dying to secure the oil fields the American public is paying the highest price ever for gas.

Looks Like 3 Different People to me

In Conclusion

I think its time we supported our troops by bringing them home. It is about time we stop sending our brave men and women into harms way just for corporate profit. Our foreign policy does nothing but breed contempt. We are an occupier we are not liberating anyone. We are liberating countries from there natural resources so that U.S. corporations and military contractors can get rich while innocent soldiers and civilians pay the ultimate price.

There is a movie (documentary) that shows the real reason for the chaos in Iraq. "No End in Sight" (free on youtube) is a great film that shows how we set the mission up for failure from the beginning so that we could maintain an occupying force there under the guise of maintaining order. What we are really doing is maintaining chaos and anarchy in order to justify our troops presence. Iraqi oil has now been privatized for the first time since 1972.......did you really think we sent the military in to "liberate" the people from Sadam. They were much better off before....and we have now killed over 500,000 people ...mostly civilians....women and children.... do the math...WE are the terrorists

What Do You Support

What do you mean when you say you support the troops

  • I support the war
  • I support the men and women serving, but not the war itself
  • I stand behind our government
  • I don't support any of it, the soldiers should know better

I think what is at issue here is that some out there believe the soldiers themselves are to blame for the wars we fight. It's the same mind set people used when vets returned from Vietnam. We should support our troops because they did the job no one else would do. They deserve our thanks and understanding because grabbing a gun and standing a post isn't political, it the military. Putting political insignia on them isn't fair. Whether you believe in the ideology or mind set behind the U.S. being at war or not shouldn't deter you from supporting our troops. If you believe we shouldn't be there would give even more to the support. They have no choice but to go where they're told and do what they are told. It's the very core of what being a soldier is. I am proud of all the men and women who have grabbed that gun and stood that post. I support OUR troops...period!

We have spent the last 100 years or so invading foreign nations in order to assist Big Business. If anyone thinks that is a conpiracy theory, read Maj. General Smedley Butler's "War is a Racket." I'm a veteran, yet I no longer see any reason for anyone to fight for this country. Because we are not fighting for liberty, freedom, or to combat terrorism. We are not protecting America. We are protecting its government's agenda. Do you think I made America any safer during my tours in combat? Did I make sure the terrorists didn't win? There are no terrorists folks, at least none that pose any real threat to this country. It's all a fairy tale. But, I can tell you that I sure as hell helped out companies like Haliburton, KBR, Blackwater (Z), and DynaCorp. Voted up.

AMEN Jonesy ..... I believe when people hear this from a veteran it holds more weight. Some try to dismiss me as a left wing conspiracy theorist ..... In reality the true patriots are the ones that shine a light on what is going on and are not happy with corporate war for profit. Our country is being stolen from us....under the guise of protecting us. Well I for one don't need anyone protecting me.

You said it..... There are no terrorists.....we have created an enemy that does not exist to instill fear in the general public so that they will blindly support the governments agenda of empire expansion and the seizure of natural resources.

Ask yourselves....why is it that we only want to help bring"democracy" to nations that are rich in natural resources
